Three generations of Holloways were ship builders / ship repairers (“shipwrights”) in Whitstable:

Samuel Holloway

Samuel’s will – “shipwright of the parish of Whitstable”

Edward Holloway

1851 census – occupation “master boatbuilder”
1861 census – occupation “shipwright”

Edward Hollaway (who ran the shipyard with his brother, William Hollaway).

1861 census – occupation “shipwright”

A number of newspaper articles appear below, detailing ships which were launched from the Holloway’s shipyards. Hundreds of people would watch the launch of the ships.
